Magnetic Sphincter Augmentation Ring Completes Enrollment in Pivotal Clinical Trial

Recently, SensCure's magnetic sphincter augmentation ring for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) successfully completed patient enrollment in its pivotal clinical trial. As the first device in China to utilize the Magnetic Sphincter Augmentation (MSA) principle for GERD treatment, it provides a novel surgical option for Chinese reflux patients and fills a domestic gap in MSA surgical therapy.

Compared with fundoplication, the advantages of MSA surgery include:

1. Preservation of native gastrointestinal anatomy, no interference with endoscopic examinations, and retention of the patient’s ability to belch and vomit postoperatively;

2. Rapid, straightforward procedure with minimal trauma and faster postoperative recovery;
