The spray cryoablation system delivers liquid nitrogen to the cryo-tip of the catheter, inducing a precipitous drop in surface temperature that freezes target tissues and ablates pathological cells. This marks the first long-term, systematic in vivo animal study of spray cryotherapy conducted in China.
In this study, animals subjected to spray cryoablation were followed up for three months. The results demonstrated no active bleeding immediately post-procedure, with no occurrence of severe complications or mortality. Pathological examination revealed minimal damage to basal cells following cryospray application. Notably, the injury activated epithelial stem cells during the early phase, facilitating rapid wound healing characterized by swift differentiation, proliferation, re-epithelialization, and tissue normalization without scar formation. Significant epithelial regeneration was observed as early as postoperative day two; by day 30, the bronchial mucosa had returned to normal, exhibiting no signs of congestion, edema, or scarring.
